  • Topic of this Week: "FEELING (November 17, 2019)"

Feelings and emotions are a huge part of all of us! Everybody has  different feelings, and it's very common for a person to experience  different emotions throughout the day as things happen and situations  develop.
For young children, it’s  fundamental to learn about feelings. By learning how to identify their  feelings, and also how to process them, children can experience a  positive change in their behavior. If they are able to correctly  recognise their feelings and what's causing them, it will be easier for  them to manage difficult situations.
However, In the process of  growing from childhood to adulthood, some of us unintentionally lose  touch with our emotional feelings. Somehow, our parents teach us to stop  responding to our feelings as we were created to. “That didn’t hurt.  Come on, get up!” a parent might say, as we fall and scrape our knee.  Or, “Stop that crying!”
People say that All this is fine, as we  learn “survival skills” that help us cope in our family and which later  may help us deal with difficult friends, co-workers or authority  figures.
Do you agree with this opinion?
Let’s come to Advance this week to share your ideas ????

    1. What are some of the feelings that you have experienced recently? What causes those feelings?
    2. What are the benefits of sharing your true feelings?
Have you ever taken actions by following your feelings and felt regretful afterwards?
    3. How often do you resist your feelings and emotions? Why would you do that?
    4. It’s said that “Control meaning, not emotions because feelings don’t  necessarily mean anything and they’re temporary”. What is your opinion  about it?

Enjoy and have a fruitful discussion!

Are you a competitive person? (October 13, 2019)

    (10:21:27 AM 12/10/2019)

High school is a memorable time in a student’s life. High school was supposed to be the time for me to create beautiful memories with all my friends and my other half. But I didn’t have it. I boosted myself to study day and day just because I wanted to beat a girl who was regarded by my mother as “con nha nguoi ta”, which means “very excellent “. Even though she was my classmate and she lived in the vicinity of my house, I didn’t want to talk with her.
After leaving the high school and being in Hanoi, I was in a very competitive environment and I also became more competitive (Aggressive). I was afraid of being left behind by my peers in my freshman year firstly, however, I really wanted to defeat the others. I compared myself with all of the best students in every aspects such as: scores, English, or even guiding skills with boys.
This character is still in me until now. It gives me a great deal of motivation to do my work with the best I can because I always keep in my mind that “If others can do it, I also can do it and even do it better”. But from time to time, it makes me so exhausted that I just want to come back to Nam Dinh, my countryside.
I’m a competitive girl. How about you? Please come and share with us this Sunday.

    QUESTIONS TO PONDER:
    1. Do you consider yourself as a competitive person? What signs of competitiveness (or the most memorable competitive situation) have you ever experienced? How did/does it affect your life both positive and negative side?
    2. Is competitive personality inborn or built up by social network and living environment? Explain?
    3. What is the drawback of competitiveness? How can be competitive in a non-destructive way?
    4. If you are a non-competitive person:
     a. How to deal with a competitive person?
     b. How to be successful in a competitive world?
